Mae f'enaid gwan yr awr am ddod
I'r man dymunais
ganwaith fod;
I gael mwynhau ei gariad ef,
Arfaethwyd cyn sylfaenu'r nef.
'Ddaw angau byth i roi i mi glwy',
Nac ofni marw i mlino mwy;
'Ddaw tristwch,
pechod cas na phoen
Byth i gwmpeini'r addfwyn Oen.
Fy ffiol yma sydd yn llawn
O ddyfroedd Mara chwerwon iawn:
Ond câf heb len
ei weled ef,
Wyneb yn wyneb yn y nef.
Pan adnabyddwyf iaith y wlad,
A phur ganiadau ty fy Nhad,
Dechreuaf gân am farwol glwy'
Na chlywir diwedd arni mwy.
Ennyned tân o gariad cu
Mewn cydsain â'r angylaidd lu;
Na fyddo'm swydd ond hyfryd sôn,
Am nefol rinwedd
gwaed yr Oen.
Wrth edrych, Iesu, ar dy groes,
A meddwl dyfnder
d'angau loes,
Pryd hyn 'r wyf yn dibrisio'r byd
A'r holl ogoniant sy ynddo i gyd.
'Rwi'n mofyn yn dy demi lân
Am gael dy weled fel o'r blaen;
A bore wawr i d'wynu'n rhad
O bur gynteddau tŷ fy Nhad.

Tôn [MH 8888]: Ludlow (<1829) gwelir: Pan adnabyddwyf iaith y wlad Wrth edrych Iesu ar dy groes |
My weak soul now wants to come
To the place I have wished
a hundred times to be;
To get to enjoy his love,
Planned before founding heaven.
Death will never come to give me a wound,
Nor the fear of death grieve me any more;
Neither sadness, detestable sin
nor pain shall come
Ever to the company of the gentle Lamb.
My cup here is full
Of the very bitter waters of Mara:
But I will get without a curtain
to see him,
Face to face in heaven.
When I know the language of the country,
And the pure songs of my Father's house,
I shall start a song about a mortal wound
Whose end shall not be heard any more.
Let a fire of dear love be kindled
In harmony with the angelic host;
May my job be but delightfully to mention,
About the heavenly, virtuous
blood of the Lamb.
On looking, Jesus, on thy cross,
And thinking of the depth
of thy throes of death,
Then I am disdaining the world
And all the glory that is in it altogether.
I am asking in thy holy temple
To get to see thee like before;
And the morning dawn to shine freely
From the pure courts of my Father's house.
